Affordable Art at the Dove in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Pictures and Pints
The lovely landlord and owner of the Dove in Bury St Edmunds will soon be hanging affordable art in his pub, so you'll be able to buy paintings along with your pint. The Dove is a real ale pub, it doesn't sell lager and doesn't do meals, although we had a local, artisan crafted pork pie with our pint of Wherry for £4 on Sunday. No plates - you eat it with mustard, fingers and a serviette.
Roger Waters took on the pub only a year ago and already the East Anglian branches of CAMRA have voted The Dove the Regional PUB of the YEAR 2010.
The Dove is simple - scrubbed wooden floors, wooden furniture and a homely bar. It's always nicely full and there's a very happy atmosphere. A perfect place for viewing affordable art by local artists. And, as I saw on Sunday, it's family, dog and welly boot friendly too. Check out the Dove's own website for details of their real ales, events, quizzes, live unplugged music, and opening times here.
If you're in Bury St Edmunds in the near future, pop in and have a pint and look at the artwork. With a print run of only 25, these three limited edition original prints, signed by Alison Malcolm will be on sale in the bar at a special price of £60 each. You can also buy these framed and ready to hang at £60 plus carriage from alisonmalcolm@realemail.co.uk
