Artist Collaborates In Worldwide Friends Of The Earth Book
Felixstowe artist Alison Malcolm Flower has joined together with 94 other artists from all over the world to produce a book supporting Friends of the Earth International. The 'Planet Earth Planet Art' book will be released on 1st March, in support of the environmental and social grassroots network Friends Of The Earth International. It is the second major art book to be produced by the internationally acclaimed Mirca Art Group, 'Freedom & Art' was released in 2008 in support of Amnesty International. In the new book, 95 artists present their artwork as a voice raised to bring awareness of the urgent problems of the imbalanced lifestyles and unsustainable environmental consumption we humans face, accompanied by a personal statement which brings the clarity of the artist to these problems. These artists come from such nations as Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Kuwait, Libya, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, UK, USA, and thus this book is truly a global voice, with contributions from East and West, from the developed and developing worlds. The collection of contemporary artforms ranges from the abstract to the photographic, the visionary to the spectacular, and is prefaced by the poem 'Make Art, Not War' from Nnimmo Bassey, the Chair of Friends Of The Earth International. The cover is from Indian graphic artist Narasimha Gollapudi Murthy and the book is edited as a collaboration between Mirca Art Group and British visionary artist Bruce Rimell, who say the book reveals the insights of artists addressing the greatest issue that mankind faces today - the protection and sustainability of our Planet Earth and the biodiversity that dwells upon it.
